Psychic Light

'Light' as a concept is often associated with clarity of consciousness. Psychic light might refer to a number of things, but one of the most stereotypical is the experience when the proverbial light bulb turns on in your head.

If your psyche is full of light, then you are an 'enlightened' and 'illuminated' person - not only have you seen the light, but you are also able to share that experience with others to a degree.

Physical light has interesting attributes as well. The opposite of matter is anti-matter, but the opposite of physical light is also physical light. In this regard, psychic light as a concept defies duality and points to the unity of consciousness.

Light can also teach us about time. According to the theory of relativity in physics, time ticks more slowly for a faster moving object. For a ray of light everything (from the beginning to the end of the universe) is in the NOW.

For a psychic, the concept of psychic light is pretty much invaluable because it can be applied in many useful ways - especially when exploring the structure of your own consciousness.

Psychic Fire

'Fire' is another metaphysical concept important for psychics.

The ancient greek philosophers saw the world as consisting of four elements: fire, air, water, earth. Applying these elements to the realm of the mind, we can say that:

- psychic fire represents the expansion and purification of conscious thought
- psychic air represents the sharpness and abstractness of thoughts
- psychic water represents the sea of subconsciousness thoughts are immersed in
- psychic earth represents the form and structure of thoughts

Considering this categorization, it's easy to see why fire is important for psychics: if we want to see what others don't, we have to purify and expand our consciousness.

Of course, balance is the key. If you don't handle fire with care, the flames will burn away your whole human personality instead of just the impurities. Fire as a metaphysical concept can be quite useful to a psychic in many situations.

Psychic Evil

The psychic realm can be a strange and terrifying place. Is it possible that there is some kind of primal evil lurking there?

It is true that there are many primal forces a psychic can encounter. However, being evil or not doesn't really enter the equation. If you stare into the sun, is it because the sun is evil that you turn blind?

'Good' and 'evil' are oversimplifications we humans use to try to keep the universe from overwhelming us. Psychic forces are not inherently good nor evil - they are what they are.

On the other hand, a psychic often encounters fears - and there's nothing more terrifying than our own fears. If we give form to these fears, we encounter evil demons that attempt to harm us. Your worst and most frightening enemy is yourself.

Psychic evil is a way our fears subvert the flow of psychic energy, and it is our feeling of helplessness which creates a reality of duality. There is only one way to defeat psychic evil, which is to be courageous and look into the mirror it presents us.

White Psychic

In western spiritual traditions we find the terms 'white magic' and 'black magic'. These traditions encourage analytical understanding and use ritualistic mental tools to achieve that understanding. Whether one uses the tools and rituals intended to heal or harm determines whether it is white or black magic.

Although a psychic can use external rituals, the focus is on the mind of the psychic. We can't judge a psychic to be a black or white psychic depending on the tools he or she uses.

But, if we want to nitpick, we can take a look at what kinds of energies the psychic most uses and deals with. If we look at it this way, a white psychic is a psychic who predominantly uses 'white' or 'light' energies. (Of course, we can use any other description that we see fit as well, such as 'nature psychic', 'sound psychic', 'elemental psychic' etc.)

I would have to stress that 'white psychic' does not mean 'good psychic'. A person using the color 'white' and 'lightness' can be a healer who offers psychic energy to those in need. A white psychic can be an instructive teacher or a comforter.

Unfortunately, a white psychic can also behave like a kid with a hammer to whom everything looks like a nail. White energy is one type of energy, one kind of tool to use - and there are many others as well. A common mistake of white psychics is to overconcentrate energy (causing distress or worse) or to offer comfort when conflict would give a greater opportunity for spiritual growth.

Black Psychic

A black psychic is a psychic who primarily operates with 'black' or 'dark' energies. (It is not very productive nor accurate to associate 'white' with moral good and 'black' with moral evil. You can get a lot of unnecessary confusion that way.)

Black psychic energy is associated with femininity, water, night, death, peace, acceptance, nothingness. While white psychic energy can be described as offering or giving, black psychic energy is accepting or taking.

Black psychic energy is especially good for cleansing of any kind. For example, if you stumble upon a block or obstacle on either mental, emotional or spiritual levels, by using black energy it just seems to stop existing there - it was there before and now it's gone. Using white energy in the same situation, the obstacle would have to be overcome with a stronger flow which would erode the block away.

There is a kind of double standard in our modern societies: we tend to praise 'white', constructive behavior and shun 'black', destructive behavior. Of course, this doesn't work and in reality both constructivity and destructivity are out of whack. Pay attention so that you don't get caught up in such way of thinking and strive for healthy balance.

'Black' also signifies a degree of mastery. In our society there are generally more fears associated with the 'dark' as opposed to the 'light', and it can be more difficult to use and master black psychic energies in a balanced way. Open up your ego and the unknown won't be so frightening anymore.

Psychic Divine

When we talk about gods or goddesses, we are reacting with our thoughts. When we are talking about the divine, we are reacting with our feelings.

How can we experience the divine? Sometimes a piece of art touches us profoundly. Sometimes it is another person or a small act of kindness. Sometimes it is caused by the satisfaction we feel when we achieve our goals after hard work.

We usually confine ourselves to a small part of our realities, and sometimes when an event occurs that acts as a catalyst we get to experience more of ourselves - a profound connection with the universe. Such an experience is often overwhelming; it can leave us without words - or even breathless.

The way a normal person approaches such experiences of the divine is simply to hope for more. A psychic is in the business of understanding them and being able to replicate them at will.

To reliably approach the higher frequencies of the psychic divine, clarity of mind, body, soul, and spirit is advised.

When he to whom one speaks does not understand, and he who speaks himself does not understand, that is metaphysics.
